State Treasurer John Kennedy Announces $419 Million in Statewide Bond Commission ApprovalsBATON ROUGE, LA -- At the March 20 meeting of the State Bond Commission, $419 million in funding was approved for projects statewide, according to State Treasurer John Kennedy.
“These approvals will help local governments across
the state continue to provide much-needed services to the public,” said
Treasurer Kennedy. Central and North Louisiana - A $120,000 letter of credit for the Catahoula Parish Police Jury to pay closure or post-closure costs of the Catahoula Parish landfill. - A $60,000 loan for the Crowville Fire District in Franklin Parish to purchase a fire fighting vehicle and related equipment. - A $100,000 loan for the LaSalle Parish Assessment District to pay salaries and expenses. - A $750,000 budgetary loan for the Madison Parish Police Jury to pay current expenses. - A $450,405 loan for the Town of Cullen in Webster Parish to pay the costs of constructing a building to be used as a dialysis center and acquiring equipment and furnishings. - $20 million in bonds for the Caddo-Bossier Parish Port Commission to make capital improvements at the port area. The approval is conditional subject to an amended resolution with approved interest rate parameters. - $13 million in bonds (with approximately $6 million purchased by Rural Development) for the Hospital Service District No. 1 in Morehouse Parish for public improvements and to refinance debt. The approval is conditional subject to the receipt of a USDA conditional letter of commitment. - $1.19 million in bonds for the Town of Rayville in Richland Parish for water system improvements. - $200,000 in bonds for the Town of St. Joseph in Tensas Parish for public improvements including a new town hall and related facilities. - Approval for the Louisiana Community Development Authority (Caddo-Bossier Parishes Port Commission) to enter into a floating to fixed rate swap for $30 million in previously approved bonds. The approval is contingent upon the receipt of an adopted swap policy, agreements and term sheets.
- $15 million in bonds (preliminary approval)
for the Rapides Finance Authority (Mortgage-Backed Securities Program) to
provide adequate housing for low and moderate income residents of the parish. - An $800,000 loan for the Grand Isle Port Commission in Jefferson Parish to acquire land and structures. - A $1.9 million budgetary loan for the City of Bogalusa in Washington Parish to pay expenses. - $212 million in bonds for the East Baton Rouge Parish, Metropolitan Council of the Parish of East Baton Rouge and City of Baton Rouge to mitigate the effects of auction rate bonds. The commission also approved a floating to fixed interest rate swap for the project. - $50 million in bonds for the Jefferson Parish School Board for improving school buildings and acquiring necessary equipment and furnishings. - $7 million in bonds for the Lafourche Parish School Board, Consolidated School District No. 1 to refinance debt, saving taxpayers $239,151. - $4.18 million in bonds for the Lakeside Estates Community Development District in Livingston Parish for surface water management and control systems, water distribution and transmission and wastewater collection and transmission facilities, and roadwork. - $2.5 million in bonds for the St. Charles Parish Council for fire protection equipment and facilities. - $350,000 in bonds for the West Baton Rouge Parish Council for road and street improvements. - $750,000 in bonds for the West Baton Rouge Parish Council for sewer system improvements, necessary sites, rights-of-way, machinery and equipment. - $6 million in GO Zone bonds (preliminary approval) for the Industrial Development Board of the City of New Orleans, Louisiana, Inc. (Fidelity Investment Holdings, LLC Project) to finance the renovation of the West Bank Plaza Shopping Center. - A $2 million loan for St. Bernard Parish to make capital improvements and hospital repairs.
Southwest Louisiana - A $500,000 loan for the Hospital Service District No. 3 in Allen Parish for current expenses. - A $700,000 loan for the Hospital Service District No. 2 in St. Martin Parish for acquiring two chillers and an emergency generator and constructing a storage building. - A $3 million loan for the Hospital Service District No. 2 in Vermilion Parish to pay expenses. - $27.75 million in bonds for the Calcasieu Parish School Board to refinance debt saving taxpayers $901,452. - $31.96 million in bonds for Lafayette Parish, Chateau Mirage Community Development District for surface water management and control systems, water distribution and transmission and wastewater collection and transmission facilities, and roadwork. - $2.3 million in bonds for the St. Landry Communications District to finance the construction of a new 911 building and acquiring equipment and furnishings. - $3 million in bonds for the City of St. Martinville in St. Martin Parish for public street improvements.
- $11 million in bonds for the Louisiana
Housing Finance Agency (Cypress Apartments Project) for the acquisition,
rehabilitation and equipping of a 276-unit residential rental facility serving
low to moderate income families in Lake Charles. |
