September 4, 2007 Letter to the Editor RE: I-49 in the passing lane I read with excitement the August 19 Shreveport Times editorial detailing the progress being made on I-49 North. The completion of this long awaited interstate project is becoming more of a reality every day. Thank you especially to those behind the scenes including Gard Wayt, the Chamber of Commerce, the business community and Shreveport-Bossier’s legislative delegation for securing the money and making this possible. Moving ahead with I-49 North will solidify the importance of completing the entire interstate statewide. I-49 is the single most important infrastructure and economic development project in the state. The interstate will provide an economic development corridor from our ports in the south all the way north to Canada. John Kennedy State Treasurer |
