National Association of State Treasurers to Hold
Conference in New Orleans
Treasurer Kennedy to Welcome
Attendees from 24 States and Mexico
BATON ROUGE, LA – Louisiana State Treasurer John Kennedy will welcome
treasurers and treasurers-elect from 24 states and the country of Mexico to the
National Association of State Treasurers (NAST) Treasury Management Conference
to be held in New Orleans beginning Monday, December 4.
“Treasurers participating in the conference are sending a national and
international message of support for the city of New Orleans and the state of
Louisiana,” said Treasurer Kennedy. “Everyone attending the conference will be
able to see and hear about the progress Louisiana has made to recover
financially from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. We will give participants a
firsthand look at the rebuilding efforts of New Orleans, but at the same time
will show them how much work is still left to be done.”
The NAST conference will take place at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel, located
at 500 Canal Street. Treasurer Kennedy will provide opening remarks at 8:30 a.m.
in the Grand Ballroom ABC, 5th Floor. Immediately following Treasurer Kennedy’s
remarks, conference attendees will hear from New Orleans Mayor C. Ray Nagin,
Louisiana State Senator Walter Boasso and Mississippi State Treasurer and NAST
President Tate Reeves.
There will be more than 525 total participants in the NAST conference including
eight state and federal government delegates from Mexico. The conference will
provide seminars on banking, cash management and investments, college savings,
debt management, unclaimed property and financial literacy. Participants will
discuss remedies to complex, recurring treasury issues and will attend sessions
featuring dynamic presentations, updates on current policy changes and hands-on
activities. Visit www.nast.org for a full conference agenda.
